According to Sensor Tower, in 2021, the highest spending on mobile games and non-gaming apps was recorded in Japan with an average spend of $149, an 18% increase over the year. But this study excludes China as Google Play is not available in that country.

This year, the top 10 highest-grossing markets on both stores are Japan, South Korea, the US, Australia, Canada, the UK, Germany, France, Thailand and Russia and generated $65.4 billion. Thailand recorded the highest increase with a 33% increase compared to 2020, Germany’s growth was lower than that recorded in 2020 with an average spending increase of 28% compared to 32% in 2020. Finally, Canada recorded the largest decrease in spending growth with an increase of 22% in 2021 compared to 42% the previous year.
